Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026
This privacy policy applies when you use the application ReceiptKeeper.
Data We Collect
Receipt Data: When you scan or import receipts, the app processes images locally on your device using Apple's Vision and Foundation Models framework for OCR (optical character recognition) and AI interpretation. This includes vendor names, amounts, dates, and expense categories. This data is stored in your iCloud Drive account or, if you choose, locally on your device.
iCloud Storage
If you choose to enable iCloud storage, your receipt data and images are synced through Apple's iCloud Drive and CloudKit services. This data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We never have access to your iCloud account or the data stored within it.
Subscription & Payment Data
Premium subscriptions are processed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not collect, see, or store your payment information (credit card numbers, billing address, etc.). Apple handles all payment processing. We only receive a confirmation of your subscription status from Apple's StoreKit framework.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your receipt content — images, vendors, amounts, dates, and notes — with anyone. Receipts stay on your device and/or in your personal iCloud account; we never have access to them, and no third-party service does either.
Our marketing website (the pages at receiptkeeper.patrickryanlane.com) uses third-party analytics tools that receive technical information about visitors. These services apply only to the public website and do not interact with the iOS app. See "Website Analytics" below.
Website Analytics
The ReceiptKeeper marketing website uses two services to measure traffic so we can understand which content is useful and where visitors come from:
- Vercel Analytics records page views and aggregate visitor patterns (country, browser type, referrer). It does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites.
- Google Tag Manager is a container service we use to load analytics scripts. When you visit our marketing pages, Google receives a record of your visit including your IP address and browser information.
We also load typefaces from Google Fonts. Google receives a record of each font request, including your IP address, as part of normal web font delivery.
These services apply only to the public marketing website. The ReceiptKeeper iOS app itself contains no analytics or telemetry code and integrates no third-party analytics SDKs. Receipt data, OCR results, and AI categorisation all run on-device using Apple's Vision and Foundation Models frameworks. Apple does provide all App Store developers with aggregated, anonymous usage statistics (downloads, crashes, session counts) collected at the platform level — this is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, applies to every app distributed through the App Store, and contains no information that identifies individual users to us.
If you want to limit this collection, you can visit the website using a browser with content blockers (Safari with Content Blockers, Brave, or Firefox with Enhanced Tracking Protection) — or skip the marketing site entirely and download the app directly from the App Store.
Data Retention & Deletion
Your data is stored on your device and in your iCloud account for as long as you choose to keep it. You can delete individual receipts at any time within Apple's files app. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data. Data stored in iCloud — including your receipts (in iCloud Drive), receipt metadata (in CloudKit), and your app preferences (in iCloud key-value storage) — persists in your iCloud account until you manually delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
